The Infection Protection Act (IfSG) in Germany has devised the law that anyone directly involved in the professional handling of food, or working in professional kitchens in Germany requires a Health Certificate (Gesundheitszeugnis) issued by the local State Health Department (Gesundheitsamt).
In order for the State Health department to issue you a Health Certificate, the following documents should be presented:
- A valid passport
- The residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel)
In addition to this, at the time of the application, the applicant is made to go through a preparatory tutorial/ instructions to ensure that he understands the importance of hygiene and other related topics while handling food. The cost of this Health Certificate is 15 euros, and must be paid on the spot while applying for it at the Health Department.
